Massachusetts Industries of Future

CEERE is currently co-lead in the state partnership with the US department of Energy Office of Industrial technologies. The Industries of the Future strategy provides a mechanism for industry and government to work together to meet the challenges and opportunities for the 21st century. Massachusetts IOF members will showcase the successes which have resulted from existing industry partnerships and increased industry participation in Federal and State energy and environmental programs.

Massachusetts industries are challenged by the needs of being competitive in global markets, accelerating product development and moving to more efficient, lower-cost technologies; and the rising costs of R&D, customer pressure to lower costs, and stockholder demands for near-term profits. New strategies for technology research are essential to future success.

The Massachusetts Industries of the Future has developed a process to support industry based on the model developed by the Department of Energy Office of Industrial technologies. The scheme that has been developed by the Univeristy of Massachusetts Lead Team follows the following list of tasks:

  • Target Industries:
Chemical, Forest Products, Metal Processing, Agriculture, Mining, Printing and Publishing, Electronics
  • Vision and Road Mapping
  • Service Delivery/Research and Development
  • Expand and sustain process through leveraged resources and effective result
