In order to fully understand the problem you are facing using Hybrid2, we
need to view certain files generated by the program. These instructions are
intended to help you upload the files to our server. Thank you.
List of files to upload.
All files in the \hybrid2\h2sim\ directory. This might include
some or all of the files listed in Appendix A (on page 44 and
45) of the Hybrid2 v 1.0 User Manual.
Guide to transfer files
Examples will be given for using the program WS_FTP and WinQVT
1. Do an anonymous FTP log on to the host : ftp.ecs.umass.edu
Example:
WS_FTP:
a. Run WS_FTP or click on the connect button if it is already
running
b. Fill out these details:
Host name : ftp.ecs.umass.edu
User ID :anonymous
Password : <your complete e-mail address>
c. Click OK
WinQVT:
a. Run WinQVT
b. Click on the FTP> button
c. When the FTP window has opened type : open ftp.ecs.umass.edu
d. Type anonymous when asked for Username and type in your
complete e-mail address as password
2. Change directory to /pub/rerl/hybrid2/support/<your
ID#>
A directory with your particular ID number will have been set up.
Example:
WS_FTP:
a. Double click on the subdirectories shown in the right window
(remote system) in the following order:
pub
rerl
hybrid2
support
<your ID#>
WinQVT:
a. Type cd pub/rerl/hybrid2/support/<your ID#>
3. Upload/put the requested files into the directory in text
format.
Example:
WS_FTP:
a. Make sure that the left window is showing the directory where
the requested files are stored. Change directories as needed (by
clicking .. to go up a level and the respective directory name
to go down a level).
b. Highlight the files to be uploaded. Press the Ctrl key as you click on
the mouse to select multiple file names.
c. Click on the arrow pointing from left to right to begin uploading. Wait
until all files are shown in the right window. (The remote system)
WinQVT:
a. Change local directory to where the files to be uploaded are
stored (e.g. type lcd c:/hybrid2/h2sim)
c. Type put h2sim*.* to transfer all files whose names begin with h2sim
from your computer to the server
4. Disconnect from the ftp server.
Example:
WS_FTP
a. Click on the Close or Exit button.
WinQVT
a. Type bye
An alternative method for people with access to Netscape or any other browsers
that support FTP:
Open the URL: ftp://ftp.ecs.umass.edu/pub/rerl/hybrid2/support/<your
ID#>
Once the address has been reached you will see an empty directory.
To upload files after you've accessed the site, choose the File|Upload File
menu item. In the resulting dialog box, select the file on your hard disk that
you wish to upload.
