Anthony Ellis received a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rochester in 1977. He joined the Renewable Energy Research Laboratory in 1992 and was chiefly responsible for review, repair, and upgrade of all mechanical systems on the 250 kW ESI wind turbine installed on Mount Tom, 20 miles from the Lab (the ESI turbine was purchased by the University of Massachusetts in 1991 from a site in California).

Tony earned an MSME in Wind Turbine Engineering in 1997 and is now employed as a Research Fellow at RERL, responsible for research related to turbine mechanical systems and for installation of meteorological research towers at sites around Massachusetts under the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Fund's Community Wind Initiative.
